Health Care Benefit Program for Sixth
District Clergy

During the past couple of years or so, there has been an effort to determine the interest of pastors and presiding elders in the Sixth Episcopal District on the possible participation in a group health care plan.  In an effort to take a proposal to a potential underwriter, a survey was offered as an attempt to collect the data necessary to make an evaluation of the feasibility of such a plan and come up with affordable costs for participants.  Many of you have probably filled out forms at some of the state meetings or during your annual conferences.  The purpose of those forms was not to enroll in any benefit plan, but simply to determine the interest.

The surveys were necessary to obtain demographic data (age, gender, health status, etc.) that would be provided to the potential insurance underwriters or the purposes of cost projections.  The demographic data, along with the anticipated number of participants would be used to assess the possible premiums that could be offered to each enrollee.  Of course, demographic data notwithstanding, the more persons enrolled at startup, the lower individual premiums would be.

IT IS NOT TOO LATE TO ENROLL IN THIS PROGRAM.  PLEASE CONTACT MRS. DODSON FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.

While interest in such a plan has been expressed, there may not have been enough information available which may have caused a reluctance on the part of some to complete the survey forms and return them.  The purpose of this message is to invite the pastors and presiding elders of the SED to consider their present healthcare coverage and whether a group plan specifically for clergy (and other qualifying church employees) might be an option.

As this proposal moves forward, an additional step is necessary in terms of finalizing the information needed to present to an insurance underwriter.  A form is available from this page that you may download, complete, and forward to the address below to express your interest in participating in the program.  You may also visit the website of Coventry Health Care of Georgia, Inc. @ www.chcga.com if you would like additional information.  This form is only to show that you would like to be included for consideration of coverage, it is NOT an enrollment form.
